OpenTipJar Receives Supplier Approval for Hyatt and Wyndham Hotels

OpenTipJar supplier account status showing approval across major hotel brand networks

OpenTipJar has received supplier approval for Hyatt and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, expanding our presence within the supplier networks serving some of the world's largest hospitality brands.

Earlier this month, we shared that OpenTipJar had completed registration in Marriott International's SupplierOne network. See our Marriott SupplierOne announcement for that milestone.

Today, we're excited to share another milestone: OpenTipJar has now received supplier approval for both Hyatt and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

These approvals are an important step as we continue making OpenTipJar easier for hotel owners, operators, and management groups to evaluate as a digital tipping solution.

Making Digital Tipping Easier for Hotels to Adopt

The idea behind OpenTipJar is simple: guests increasingly want to recognize hotel employees for great service, but fewer travelers carry cash.

OpenTipJar gives hotels a simple way to bridge that gap.

A guest can scan a QR code or tap an NFC-enabled sign or card, choose a tip amount, and pay from their phone. There is no app for the guest to download and no OpenTipJar account required to leave a tip.

Behind that simple guest experience, hotels can configure tipping around the way their teams actually operate.

Tips can be directed to individual employees, shared with a department or team, tracked by room or location, or distributed using an existing hotel tip-pooling process. See 5 ways hotel tips can flow through OpenTipJar for the models hotels commonly use.

There isn't one model that works for every property, which is why OpenTipJar was designed to support different workflows without changing the experience for the guest.

Why Supplier Approval Matters

For independent hotels, adopting a new technology can often be a relatively straightforward decision.

Hotels operating under major hospitality brands may have additional procurement, vendor-management, or supplier requirements to consider.

Hyatt, for example, maintains a formal application process for companies interested in becoming suppliers or service providers. Wyndham similarly maintains an approved supplier program covering products and services used throughout its hotel network.

Receiving supplier approval does not mean that Hyatt or Wyndham endorses OpenTipJar or requires its hotels to use our platform.

It does, however, represent another important step in making OpenTipJar available for consideration by hotel owners and operators working within major hospitality brands.

With Marriott SupplierOne registration already completed, the addition of Hyatt and Wyndham continues to expand OpenTipJar's presence within the hospitality supplier ecosystem.

A Different Approach to Hotel Digital Tipping

OpenTipJar was built around a few principles that we believe are especially important in hospitality.

No monthly subscription fees. Hotels don't pay simply to keep an OpenTipJar account active. Our pricing is transaction-based, so we earn our business when guests actually use the platform. That is why OpenTipJar doesn't charge a monthly subscription.

No guest surcharge. The amount the guest chooses to tip is the amount charged to the guest. OpenTipJar's transaction fee is deducted from the tip rather than added as an additional checkout fee.

No app required. Guests scan or tap and tip directly from their phone.

Flexible employee and team workflows. Hotels can support individual employee tipping, department tipping, pooled tips, location-based tracking, or a combination of approaches—including employee-linked housekeeping cards.

Complimentary setup and design assistance. We can help configure hotel locations and employees and create professionally branded, print-ready tipping materials at no additional cost.

Hotels are also free to print those materials wherever they choose. OpenTipJar offers printing and NFC-enabled signage as a convenience, not as a requirement.

Supporting Hotels of All Sizes

OpenTipJar began with a simple goal: make digital tipping accessible without requiring a hotel to take on another expensive software subscription.

That remains true whether we're helping an independent inn with a few dozen rooms, a multi-property hotel group, or a franchised property operating under one of the world's largest hotel brands. Management groups can configure OpenTipJar differently at each property while keeping a consistent platform.

Our growing presence within hospitality supplier networks is another step toward that goal.

And we're just getting started.
