Tip link works on desktop but not mobile

Mobile-only checkout issues often involve browser blocks, in-app browsers from social apps, or wallet availability. Testing in Safari or Chrome outside Instagram usually isolates the cause.

The short answer

Tip links are built for phones. If checkout works on desktop but not mobile, suspect in-app browsers, content blockers, or wallet availability — not the tip page itself.

Social apps

Links opened inside Instagram or Facebook sometimes behave differently. Open the same URL in the device's main browser.

QR context

Most QR scans are mobile by definition. Desktop issues matter more for link-in-bio traffic tested on a laptop.

Common misconceptions

  • Working on desktop but not mobile usually points to browser or in-app browser issues — not that tipping requires a desktop.

  • Apple Pay appearing on mobile but not desktop is expected — wallets are device-specific, not a sign the page is broken.
